===The Beginning=== To assist in the aftermath of the release of the elementals, several members of the Dwarven clan House Khalask are excused their primary duties and "loaned" out to assist in the mopping up. Head of House Finnthragord Stonecleaver's step-son's, brother's, nephew, Flint StoneWood, a relatively young 39 year-old dwarf is sent to assist Inspector Firehammer's efforts. He carries his family's honor, with his war hammer and throwing axes. However, the good inspector introduces young Flint into the less than subtle ways of Gnomish Firearms. After cleaning up the major damage caused by the release of elementals into their fair city, the ruling council, along with a few other select arcane users, feel the surge that is the return of the Jade Tower. The Council is called before the King of Smoke to determine how Haven should present itself to the world. After much deliberation, isolation is the decision. Haven has survived without much contact with the outside world up to this point, so why tempt fate? However, if the ruling families wish to offer some form of assistance, the King of Smoke grants them the opportunity to devise a covert operation to send help and protect Haven's secret. During the development meetings, Inspector Firehammer is invited to offer his technical knowledge for ideas. "The last time the Jade Tower was attacked, Paladins led the charge. I would expect no less from a renewed campaign by the Church. Since then, my brethren have created a great equalizer against such a threat". For drama, he then racks a round in his rifle. "If we could send word to my kin, a shipment of our finest weaponry could be delivered to the Jade Tower to counter whatever the Spire may send towards the Tower." "And who shall we send on such a fool's errand? Dwarven craftsmanship has endured longer than the Sword of Malicean!" "Then perhaps a partnership. Your step-son's, brother's, nephew, Flint, has been shown our Gnomish technology and has started applying the finer touch of Dwarven craftsmanship. We can outfit him for the journey, and I will provide him the necessary forms, all stamped and sealed correctly, to deliver to the Gnomish council. He can then oversee the safe transport of our goods to the Jade Tower. " "One Dwarf with a War Hammer in the wastelands? He will be picked apart less then a days journey from our wall!", scoffed the minister from House Dirac. "Not just a War Hammer," the inspector responded, "but from my own personal armory..." And opened two cases to reveal a military pistol and shotgun sized for a dwarf. A cleaning kit for both nestled in the case. "And our latest upgrades in ammunition," opening a box of 25 rounds for each. The pistol came with a leather waist belt and holster with slots for all 25 rounds, the shotgun came with an over-the-shoulder bandolier. The head of Flint's house also provided him with a MW studded-leather coat, leather shirt, riding chaps, and boots. V'raag, the generous, yet silent Kobold, placed a wide-brim hat on the table. All knew his shop and reputation. "What does it do?" whispered someone on the council. "Oh-Ho! One of my favorite items! Keeps hot sun off face and head!" "Is that all?" came the return whisper. "Does not smell like Ogre's backside after 3 weeks of sun and dwarf sweat!!"
