Arathiel, a gryphon of angelic heritage, was tapped to be his mount. Arathiel is a dangerous combatant, and holds herself in a constant state of readiness for war against the forces of evil. This is in part due to the fact that her rider, Nigel, has a tendency to summon her into the middle of a fight, expecting her to be ready to go at an instant's notice. Arathiel is far more intelligent than most animals or magical beasties, and could be considered a member of the [[Companions of the Rising Sun]] on her own merit.
