Though it would make the name of the story perhaps less neatly tied, I would suggest not using candle wax, but rather an orison (0-level spell), or something. Far as I know, candle wax's a lubricant for wood, not a friction-binder. Also, while this is a very nice vignette, and well written, it doesn't tell a story that is of interest to the party, unless Alexander diLegno turns out to be someone very important, or the nameless bard goes on to massacre a village, or something. There's no context, and particularly no Crescent-specific content, save for the name of the god and the holidays, which could be anything, really. I'd like to see this tied into the world somehow - probably not by editing it, as it's very nice as it is, but by expanding the writer's role in the world.
