Shinn was one of the most powerful figures in the days around the Scarlet War. He invented and led the forces of the Spellswords, fearsome arcane warriors, earning for himself the title of Warlord. Master of the Lighthouse at Windy Point, he was the last of the Master Wizards to fall to the Army of the Light, led by Lord Marshal Valanthe Amakiir and Field Marshal Carline Bright-Eyes.
According to the Amber Dragon, in An Alternate History - The Scarlet War, he was actually a rebel from the College of Mages, going against the wishes of their council and choosing to fight directly with the forces of Pelor.
