The Final Judge[edit]

The Final Judge is ruthlessly and perfectly impartial. His followers were known for taking no sides save that of justice. They did, however, regard undead as an abomination to be hunted at all costs, and consequently channeled positive energy.

Reappearance[edit]

When Phealas' constellation reappeared alongside Mehana's on the day of Glory Exultation, he claimed only one cleric, and made no reported direct appearances to anyone, for a long time.

No one was quite sure what to make of this situation, and George wasn't talking.

Many years later, it was revealed that Landor Forester was the newly-reborn avatar of Phelas; this secret was kept during his infancy and childhood for his safety.

Practice[edit]

The Church of Pelor was quite through in the destruction of records concerning worship practices of other gods, so there are few recorded liturgies or prayers.

What is known is that the practice of worshiping the Final Judge was about precisely detailed, dogmatic ritual. Dress, liturgy, diet, and ethics were all precisely prescribed, and there was no room for deviation.

Clerics of Phealas were expected to be celibate, and above all to be the embodiment of honesty: above bribery, corruption, and influence.

History records that this wasn't always the case, of course.

Holidays[edit]

Last Hope[edit]

In times gone by, the month of Penitence was holy to Phealas. It marked the final month for appeals against the death sentence, with all executions for the year being held on the last night of the year. Legend has it that Penitence is the longest month of the year because once upon a time, a stay of execution was given, only to be revoked and the criminal executed a few days after the end of the Year. Because it was obviously impossible that a criminal was executed on a day after the final day for appeals, the month of Penitence must have been longer that year, and has been ever since. Consequently, the last three days of the month were known collectively as "Last Hope", and were known for being the days on which clerics of Phealas worked round the clock.

Atonement[edit]

The last day of every month was also holy, as worshipers are called upon to redress any wrongs they have committed against another that month.

Measurement of Time[edit]

The first priest of the reborn Phealas, George has declared 15 Harmony, Year of the Sun 1337, when Phealas' constellation reappeared in the night sky, as the beginning of a new era for the Church of Phealas, and measures time accordingly. However, to avoid severe complication in the keeping of calendars, she maintains the same month structure. Thus, the Year of the Sun 1342 is also the Fifth Year of the Reign of Justice, Personified in the Lord Phealas, in the Land of Crescent.

Holy Places[edit]

Phealas has claimed no known holy places at this time. It is now known, however, that the Jade Imperium provided Landor Forester shelter in the town of Everlight. Accordingly, a small number of people make pilgrimages to his childhood home and leave a single lily at the door.

Followers[edit]

Phealas does not have many followers in the wider world. One notable exception is the Halfling Clan Chadaarth, originators of the Shadowdance. They now act as his Hands in the world.
