Perrin is cousin to Sir Jericho Templar on his father's side, and distantly related to Sir Kimo DawnBreaker. He married Rachel Forester (formerly Rachel Weaver) in a shot-gun wedding just prior to the birth their first child Landor Forester on Sunsday, 15th of Harmony in the Year of the Sun 1337.

Perrin was born human, then killed in action in 1336. He subsequently returned to life as a Deathless, but with no idea by what agency. It was later revealed to be the act of Crustan, reaching beyond the grave to return a faithful servant to life.
When Crustan re-ascended, he gave Perrin the choice of returning to full humanity, or ascending to sit at the side of the Beastmaster as an angel. After consulting with the Companions, Perrin chose to return to humanity, to raise his freak-a-doo child.
