The northwest is the land of the elves. Composed mostly of evergreen forests and rolling hills, this area is known as the Forest of Illumination. Their primary (and only) city is Luminaux, also known as the Blue City or the City of Harmony, famous both for music, art and culture, and luxury trade goods.
Luminaux

- The Marquette d'Illumination – this is the central marketplace for Luminaux, and indeed for many leagues in all directions. In addition to the normal fare available at markets, most of the artisan's guilds operate one or more stands here on market day. Luxury items of all sorts are routinely available here, and it also ranks as one of the best people-watching spots in the whole of Crescent. This square is heavily patrolled by Guild Council Guards in uniform and plainclothes.
- Barnabus and Nobble, Gnomish Book Printers – This cluttered storefront houses one of the world's newest and most exciting inventions: the moveable-type printing press (or, in a literal translation from Gnomish, "Barnabus and/or Nobble's multiple-letter/number/symbol adjustable-order paper-based columnated textual reproduction machine". No one said Gnomish was concise.) Barnabus and Nobble are a pair of Ministry-certified Gnomish tinkers who share a love for the written word and efficiency. They sell cheap copies of the most popular books, particularly the Librera, Apparitions to Zombies – A Practical Guide to the Walking Dead, and ORB's Common Prayers.
- Graveyard de Fortissimos – This is the final resting spot for the remains of many of Crescent's most famous musicians. As there are few spots left in this crowded cemetery, the remaining plots are bestowed by the Guild of Mask and Scroll as a sort of 'Lifetime Achievement' award, to ailing bards of great renown or service.
- The Leaves of Learning
- Purple Suede
- The Grand Concert Hall – This is the biggest, most acoustically perfect single room in Crescent. Shaped like a gargantuan amphitheater, every audience member in every seat can hear a performance on-stage with equal, stunning clarity. This hall is the site for the centerpiece of the Gloria, an enormous musical festival held each year on the Day of Harmony. Tickets for this event sell out months in advance.
- Arcangel's Pride – This ritzy night spot features the best in amateur, Non-Guild musical entertainment. Particular emphasis is made on vocal performance, although instrumental is also occasionally heard there as well. They feature an open-stage night on Stonesday of each week.
- Guildhall of Mask & Scroll – This large, sprawling building is the headquarters to Mask and Scroll, the guild which represents, protects, and serves the world's bards and performers. It is also the repository for the largest archive of music in Crescent. The Guild holds auditions four times a year, coinciding with the major religious holidays, in four areas: Vocal performance, Physical performance, Instrumental performance, and Composition/Creative.
- The Cathedral of Dawn – Possibly the most famous and beautiful cathedral in Crescent, this is the center of religious life in Luminaux. Open 24 hours/day, with at least three priests, of varying orders, available for the general public at all times. Prayer services are held every morning at dawn, and are well-attended most days of the week.
- Felix and Jonathan's School of Swashbuckling and Derring-Do
- The Rusty Wing – This is a small, but cozy, inn and tavern on the Avenue du St. Martin. While they have always done a steady trade, business has picked up recently, largely due to the celebrity of the owner's son, Phantos RustyWing, who was resurrected in a stunning conclusion to the last Gloria mass.
- Monastery of the Intercepting Fist – This is a small chapel/training room/living facility, which serves the needs of the members of the Order of the Fist of Reverence. It is a very humble building in an otherwise plush section of town, but this suits the monks. There is a soup kitchen in the back, where the poor of the city can always find a meal and some comfort.
- Darkthorne Academy of Swordsmanship
- Companions of the Rising Sun – Formerly the home of a small group of adventurers, whose fortunes seem to be on rise. Burned down recently under suspicious circumstances.
