The sword of Sir Nigel IronFaith, this heirloom bastard sword has been handed down in his family for three generations. It is the sword which, in the hands of Nigel's grandfather, wounded Yanseldra at the battle for the Jade Tower, as described in Red Day Dawning.
When the Companions of the Rising Sun encountered the archangel at the Tower, Nigel asked for forgiveness for the sins of his family and his order, and healed the wound she received from his grandfather, which had bound her to the Material Plane. She flew off, but from the sky fell a single pinion, a flight feather from her glorious wings.
Nigel later had the feather bound into the metal of the blade, which resulted in it taking on the holy property, in addition to its pre-existing enchantments.
