Sir Kimo DawnBreaker, with the Outgrabe

A hovering snowboard, this prototype magical item was developed by V'raag. The Outgrabe product line never got off the ground (ba dum bump) due to the difficulty of actually using it. Making full use of it requires exceptional balance and some amount of tumbling skill. Thus far, only Sir Kimo DawnBreaker has demonstrated any proficiency in using it.

Item Description

This item is a plank of white wood, about 4 feet long, with rounded ends, edged in gold and platinum, with a strange pattern inlaid in black wood on the top. There's a strap on one side, made of scaly black leather. It hovers between 5 and 8 inches off the ground, and is capable of supporting the weight of a man (up to 200 pounds). The rider leaves no tracks behind. An Outgrabe only works over solid surfaces.

Ride Outgrabe

Riding an Outgrabe is difficult at best. This check allows you move your normal speed, and use the hustle or run actions.

Need for Speed

You may push the limit and add up to 20’ to your base speed. However, you must declare how fast you are attempting to go before rolling your Balance check, and failure works as normal.

Ride Outgrabe in battle

You may ride an Outgrabe in battle, and still fight as though you were on foot.

Fast Mount or Dismount

You can attempt to mount or dismount from an Outgrabe as a free action, provided that you still have a move action available that round. If you fail the Balance check, mounting or dismounting is a move action.

Ollie

When riding an Outgrabe, you may make Jump checks as normal. If you fail your Balance check, you fall off an Outgrabe and take the appropriate falling damage (at least 1d6 points). This usage does not take an action, but is part of your movement.

Bail Out

You can react instantly to try to take no damage when you fall off an Outgrabe—when you fail a Balance check, or enter an anti-magic zone, for example. If you fail your Tumble check, you take 1d6 points of falling damage. This usage does not take an action.

Tricks are not for Kids

You can also use an Outgrabe to entertain an audience (as though using the Perform skill). All terrain modifiers listed under the Tumble skill apply, except “sloped or angled”, which actually provides a +2 circumstance bonus to the skill check.

Action

Varies. Mounting or dismounting normally is a move action. Other checks are a move action, a free action, or no action at all, as noted above.
