Yanseldra
Yanseldra, an archangel in the Court of ORB, is also the only member of the Jade Army who both survived the battle at the Jade Tower, and was not subsequently tried by Field Marshal Carline Bright-Eyes' Tribunal.
As recounted in Red Day Dawning, Yanseldra led a legion of angels out from the gates of the Tower, to defend the mages and fight against the Sun. Even after the rest of her host had fallen, and the Sun's Army advanced on the Tower, she stood, alone, before the gate, blazing sword in hand, and held at bay all the forces of the Sun for many moments.
At the end, Brother Duram Gangi recounts she wept with despair as Lord Marshal Valanthe Amakiir's spiritual strike tore through the defenses of the Jade Tower. Observers at the time attributed her emotion to her failure to serve her new masters and defend the Tower.
In spite of her role fighting against the righteous forces of ORB, as an immortal servant of the Morning Star, she was deemed to be beyond the reach of mortal law. She offered no words in her own defense, and the Field Marshal declared her forgiven, as she had been bound to another's will, and was now free.
The Angel remained as an observer to the proceedings, but offered no comment either for or against the Master Wizards brought to trial. Indeed, Church doctrine records that she spoke no words at all in the presence of any mortals, though the Amber Dragon's story contradicts that.
When the Tribunal was finished, and the mortals made to leave, Yanseldra rose, took up her sword, and stood again before the gate to the Jade Tower, immobile and stone-faced. It is reported that she still stood, in prayer or penance, when the last of the mortals there lost sight of the Tower.
It seems she remained there for more than three centuries, as the Companions of the Rising Sun found her there in the month of Harmony, 1337, as they sought to gain entrance to the Tower. She allowed them entrance, after they healed a wound sustained in the battle for the Tower, and returned to the Heavens to restore her spirit. See Glory Exultation for more details.
