In the waning days of the Jade Tower, a seer of great power rose to prominence in the College of Mages. Using the scrying power of the Spellpool in ways more profound than any other mage had ever accomplished, he predicted the the fall of the Jade Tower in the Scarlet War some 70 years before it occurred, before Lord Marshal Valanthe Amakiir had even been born. Only the power of Aurora the Insightful rivaled his, though they were most powerful as a team.

It is said of Segilus that he was able to draw forth from the Spellpool visions of the future, to navigate the multi-threaded weave of the possible, seeing in the most minute detail. According to the Amber Dragon in An Alternate History - The Scarlet War, his was the vision which guided the College to an intentional defeat in the war. Also his was the idea of transporting the bulk of the population of the College into the future, a feat which culminated in the apparent destruction of the Holy Temple at Mt. Daneasus.

Equal parts oracle and hero, Segilus gave his life and intellect to become the spell which bound the the Temple out of time - using his spectral vision to guide the Temple through the passage of time in its infinite possibility.

This account, at least, is confirmed by the Companions of the Rising Sun, who met the spellform Segilus in the Jade Tower, and unwound his binding in the Glory Exultation ritual. Now released from his duties with the time binding, he seems to reside in the Spellpool itself, acting as guide and adviser to Aurora.
