Genasi

Available as described in Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse.

Much like the other planetouched (Aasimar and Tiefling) , Genasi carry with them the blood of an otherworldly creature. In this case, though, it is a creature of one of the elemental planes: Djinn, Efreeti, Tritons, etc.

Genasi show the signs of their elemental heritage outwardly, and each of them has some element-dependant powers.

They come in four types, one for each of the classic elements: Air, Earth, Fire, and Water.

Appearance and Traits

All Genasi are individual, so feel free to improvise their traits.

Air Genasi

Some will have light blue or pale white skin; others have similarly colored hair. Some of them even have a slight breeze following them wherever they go, or make a whooshing sound when moving suddenly. Their traits tend to be somewhat subtle.

They are frequently afflicted with wanderlust, typically wanting to go where the wind leads them. They have a tendency to choose a duelist-style of fighting.

Earth Genasi

No two earth genasi look the same. Some will have an rubble-like texture to their skin, rough facial features, or eyes that look like black pits or gemstones. Others might have a gravelly voice, iron grey hair, or a metallic sheen to their skin or hair. Some have even been known to sweat mud instead of water.

They have a tendency to put down roots, staking out a particular territory and defending it stubbornly. They like to feel in contact with the earth, and go barefoot if possible. Most dislike the very idea of flying. They typically become fighters of the power-oriented styles, delivering and enduring huge amounts of damage.

Fire Genasi

Some will have charcoal gray, deep red or unusually warm skin; others have red or orange hair that waves like flames. Some have eyes that flicker or glow when the genasi is angry, or a body odor that smells like smoke.

They are flamboyant, and elegant, assuming leadership of a group even if they have no talents in that area. They are also impatient and like to travel. Most of all, though, they are capable of a huge range of astonishingly intense and extreme emotions, from passion to anger; they believe that a life not lived vigorously is not lived at all.

Water Genasi

Some will have lightly scaled or blue-green skin, or flesh that is clammy to the touch, blue-green hair that moves as if underwater, blue-black eyes, or a muffled voice that sounds as if coming from underwater.

They are patient and independent, usually tranquil but capable of great upheavals of emotion, like a stormy sea. They typically live near or in coastal waters, sometimes maintaining a home both under the sea and on land.
