Trek to Haven
The Trek to Haven was a series of connected adventures, which stretched over several months of game time and more than a year real time.
Most of it is outlined in the Trek to Haven flowchart
, but also note that there were side adventures run by Bill and Jamie that are not detailed in that flowchart.
Bad Moon Waning is one of those side adventures, and occurred between the events of the second and third sections of that chart.
Events
While recovering in St. Kerwyn from the battle with the Ebon Heart cult, the party is asked to investigate the disappearance of 2 members of the Order of the Holy Compass. Proceeding north towards Deepwood Village, the party came upon the remains of a small camp. A fierce, bloody, and apparently short battle had occured, leaving the rent body of a ranger alone in the small clearing. Among his possessions was a magical scroll that recorded the words of its owner. Based on its contents and previous information, the party learned that the ranger and his 2 partners were tracking a "low life thief" named S'vr Coppermill who had stolen an artifact of some power-- "the artifact is small enough to fit in the hand of Man, and can change His fate forever."
Upon reaching the village, the party found the residents reluctant to discuss recent events, including the murder of their village priest. Jericho purified the small temple, and the party spent the night in the mayor's house. The next day, they learn about a local patrician named Bissel, who holds great influence in town. Investigation, including a quick recon of his home, ensued. One piece of the artifact was discovered in a nasty vat of goo in the village tannery. In the course of determining whether any party members were afflicted with disease, Kimo was compelled to strip naked before the party, to his chagrin.
Ultimately, the party learned that nearly all the residents of the village were natural werewolves. Bissel, whose real name was in fact S'vr Coppermill, had an artifact which made him an incredibly powerful werewolf. He was extorting the villagers into working a gold mine recently discovered nearby. In a final confrontation, the party, supported by a few townfolk-werewolves, attacked Coppermill in hybrid form. The unstable terrain and Coppermill's enormous strength made the battle tenuous until a well-timed Dispell Magic from (Jericho? Baelwren?) rendered Coppermill's artifact and massive sword inert. Human, with a blade he could no longer weild, Coppermill was immediately overpowered by the townfolk who left little behind to search.
The other half of the artifact was never located.
An extensive amount of stolen property was discovered in Coppermill's manor and taken into custody by the party. The gold mine was left in trust to the townsfolk. In gratitude for their rescue and newfound resource base, the townfolk agreed to harbor and protect Rachel Weaver/Lelani Caladon until she gives birth.
