Trek to Haven -- The Lash of Malloc

From Jade Tower

Our heroes liberate some slave girls from an awful master, and Nigel gets bored.

Trek to Haven[edit]

The Trek to Haven was a series of connected adventures, which stretched over several months of game time and more than a year real time.

Most of it is outlined in the Trek to Haven flowchart , but also note that there were side adventures run by Bill and Jamie that are not detailed in that flowchart.

The Lash of Malloc is laid out in the third section of that chart.

Adventure[edit]

This adventure was drawn from the module by the same name, and concerned a tavern with a whip-wielding slave-master proprietor. The party eliminated the owner, and turned the tavern over to the ownership of the slave girls, with oversight from the al'Hamzah family.

Things of Note[edit]

This adventure had many notable events.

First was the discovery that the tavern was built at the location of a natural spring, an oasis in the desert. Inscribed in the rock above the spring were the words,

"And to the thirsty, I give this spring, in the name of the Beast. So long as my seasons reign, shall this water flow."

It is was noticed, further, that the water level in the spring was considerably lower than it appeared to have been in the past.

There was also an encounter with a band of halfling nomads, who took a shine to Baelwren and the rest of the party.

Finally, this adventure was the genesis of nearly everyone's favorite moment in the entire campaign, "No one's in the kitchen with Nigel".

Credits[edit]

This adventure was loosely based on the module The Lash of Malloc, published by AEG. [More Info]
